Baby it's Cold Outside!

Wherever you live, the winter can be rough for your body and spirit.

Cooler temperatures require having the heat on and windows closed, leaving your environment dry and closed up without fresh air. Not so great for your skin, muscles and emotions too.

Here are simple things I like to do to to take care of my health and well-being through the winter here in Chicago...


* Do 1 thing you LOVE to do everyday.

Not something you have to do, but something you love, that makes you happy. (This can be as simple as listening to some jazz music on you tube.)

* Eat Healthier. You will definitely feel more "alive"!

Maybe substitute a salad for that mac and cheese side or even substitute green tea for coffee in the afternoon.

* Drink plenty of water.

Keeping yourself hydrated is a must. Dryer climates mean dryer skin and mucous membranes. Water is great for flushing out toxins and keeping the joints lubricated.
If you aren't partial to plain water, try infusing it with fresh herbs or flowers overnight for a fresh taste. (see pic below!)

* Get a hot stone massage!

Warm stones rubbed over tired, cold, or sore muscles will warm you up from the inside out.

* Sleep more.

This is essential to your overall health. getting enough sleep allows your body to rebuild and refresh itself as well as helping to prevent illness (that yucky cold) and even depression.
